Italian personal care packaging provider Taplast has launched a new
spring pump, Nautilus, that claims to provide smoother, more
hygienic dispensing for a range of toiletry products.

Nautilus has been designed as a lotion pump for products including shampoo, body lotions, hand soaps and products such as sunscreens and was recently previewed at the Health & Beauty show in New York.

The new pumps, which are 100 per cent recyclable, have been designed around the concept of concealing the metal spring for the pump inside the pump housing.

This means that pump is first much more hygienic because the metal does not come into contact with the formulation. The metal springs in pumps have often been cited as a course of contamination of toiletry products when then come into contact, because of the reactive nature of metals.

The company has designed the pump so as the metal spring is concealed by a smooth plastic cover. Not only does this make the pump more hygienic, it also adds to the aesthetics of the design for clear plastic products, as the pump spring is not visible.

Nautilus is being made available on a global basis during the course of this month and will appear in the company's forthcoming catalogue.

Taplast is currently a major player in the global pumps and closures market and has most recently supplied its Laguna pump to Proctor & Gamble for its Clairol brand Herbal Essence range.
