Karlshamns, a leading Scandinavian producer of vegetable oils and
fats, announced this week that it is now responsible for the sales
and marketing of Danisco's emulsifiers to the cosmetic industry.

The company said that since 1 February 2005 that its business sector "Lipids for Care" has taken over responsibility Danisco's emulsifiers for the cosmetic business.

Dansico's products will therefore now be marketed globally under Karlshamns' brand Akoline the world.

Karlshamns said that the agreement was in line with its strategy, and would "further consolidate our position as the number one supplier of vegetable speciality fats to the global cosmetic industry," according to Karina Petterson, head of the Lipids for Care sector.

The Akoline emulsifiers are all of food-grade quality and based only on natural raw materials, offering new formulation opportunities for products with high functionality and bioactive properties, said Karlshamns.

Emulsifiers are essential to achieve stability and texture in lotions and other skin care products.
