Gerresheimer showcases packaging innovations

The Gerresheimer Group is showcasing a number of new packaging
technologies at this week's Emballage show in Paris, which, it is
claimed, are likely to shape futuretrends for perfumes and
cosmetics.

Situated in Hall 6 E 10, the company will be highlighting to trade visitors its latest developments in both glass and plastic.

Gerresheimer, one of the leading international partners in glass packaging, forms the umbrella for its European subsidiaries: SpessartGlas, Tettauer Glashüttenwerke, Wisthoff and Fritz - all from Germany; NouvellesVerreries de Momignies from Belgium, Kimble Italiana from Italy and Verretubexand Flacor, which are located in France.

"In all its market segments, the group has a top-flight range of products and services whichit continually updates and perfects through close development partnershipswith industry,"​ explained Gerresheimer's director of corporate PR andmarketing, Burkhard Lingenberg.

The presentationprovides information across the company's business areas, which also include pharmaceutical and food and beverage, andfeatures some particularly interesting highlights for the cosmetics sector.

Aesthetic appeal has been the driving force of the latest innovations in this sector, the company says. The group is exhibiting what it terms as 'subtlyinnovative creations' from all the product groups, 'reflecting unusual ideas,new design trends and technical perfection'.

The group says that there are new approaches inall areas, from the exclusive up-market sector right down to the increasinglycreativity-oriented mass market, and ranging from the perfume flacon rightthrough to containers for anti-ageing products and nail varnish bottles.

Gerresheimer​ serves the beauty care markets with a completerange of products which, in addition to an almost infinite variety ofcontainer glass products also includes ampoules and samplers made oftubular glass.

The products also highlight the group's strengths in individualdesign and creation, with sophisticated shapes and material combinations,colourings and coatings, acid etching and printing methods, providing a cross-section of all these finishing techniques.

In recent months new packaging launches for the cosmetics and fragrance sector have included a new glass flacon for Adidas' Man perfume range, a new day cream from Avon - Anew Retroactive+ - as well as a line of nail varnish bottles for Nivea's Flex and Strong range.

Gerresheimer has manufacturing operations in 17 locations in Europe and the US and last year had a turnover of €550 million.
