Chemical and ingredients distributor Univar has consolidated its
operations by creating a dedicated sales and services contact for
the specialist personal care and pharmaceutical markets.

Essex-headquartered Univar said that its new organisation has already been making a positive contribution to improved customer services.

According to the managing director of Univar's personal care and pharmaceutical division David Jones: "By creating a single contact point we have clarified and shortened the lines of communication with our customers. This has simplified our interface with the market and positioned us to respond more rapidly to customers' needs."

"Moreover, to ensure the right response we have an expanded team of specialist account managers, three for personal care and two for our pharmaceutical business, who fully engage with all aspects of customers' needs including product blending and sampling," he added.

The commercial team includes the key appointments of Jason Harrop as UK sales manager, and Rachael Lewis who fulfils a newly created marketing planning role, which gives emphasis to meeting customers' evolving future needs.

The company said that its personal care and pharmaceutical division builds on the platform of its former Anstead International subsidiary, a supplier of high quality speciality ingredients for those sectors.

Jones said: "This consolidation and strengthening is geared to ensuring that each customer is able to access the individual attention, time and expertise necessary to achieve the ingredient solution that best suits his needs."

He added: "We believe that our customers are already benefiting from that advantage."

CosmeticsDesign.com recently reported that Univar had been appointed sole UK distributor for the products of MGS MicroPure, a manufacturer and blender of biocides and cosmetic preservatives under the Paratexin brand.
