Queen honours Body Shop founder

The Body Shop founder and ardent environmental campaigner Anita
Roddick was awarded the title of Dame as part of the Queen's
Birthday Honours released on 14 June. She was awarded the title for
her life-long work in retailing, the environment and charity.

The Body Shop founder and ardent environmental campaigner Anita Roddick was awarded the title of Dame as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours released on 14 June. She was awarded the title for her life-long work in retailing, the environment and charity.

Commenting on the award, Dame Anita said: "Thank you to those who nominated me and those who awarded me this Honour. I hope this honour opens the path to allow me to be more radical."

Adrian Bellamy, executive Chairman and Peter Saunders, chief executive of The Body Shop added: "It is a recognition of her success in building one of Britain's truly great retailing businesses - The Body Shop. It also underlines her unstinting commitment to environmental, social and charitable causes."
