The specialty ingredients company announced new editions to its ‘BiotHAIRapy’ series of ingredients said to help consumers to achieve healthier, fuller and younger-looking hair at incosmetics last month.
Procataline, chromafend and Follisync biofunctionals, according to Ashland, address hair follicles to help protect against oxidative stress, natural hair color and to boost hair renewal.
Pea extract, Procataline biofunctional has been designed to combat oxidative stress by helping to maintain high levels of protein expression in hair follicles ex vivo.
While Chromafend, an extract of flax seed, is said to help boost in vitro tyrosinase expression and other essentials required for the protection of natural hair color.
Finally, Follisync a formula containing vicia faba seed extract, has been designed by Ashland to target in vitro protein expression in the dermal papillae, which is believed to play an important role in orchestrating cellular functions that support a healthy hair growth cycle.
“Hair damage associated with aging may be addressed using biofunctional ingredients, and these new products significantly expand Ashland’s portfolio of anti-aging hair care technologies for the mass marketplace,” said Ashland global marketing director, Sangeetha Subramanian.
