Changes in the ranks at Fragrance West

The Van Nuys, California–based creative perfumery and fragrance manufacturer recently announced several senior staff appointments that company president Christina Fiduccia believes will meaningfully advance Fragrance West’s standing in the industry.

The West Coast beauty business is thriving, as more tech, biotech, ingredient companies, brands, and organizations startup and settle into to the region. It’s a good place to be for a company whose claim to fame is as “the only fully-operational fragrance laboratory and manufacturer on the West Coast.”

Fragrance West got its start in 2008 and is a subsidiary of the specialty ingredient and raw materials distributor HORN. The fragrance company serves not only the perfume and cologne industry, but also personal care and hair care, as well as the household fragrance and air care industries.

Better days ahead

Fragrance West has no intention of sitting still; the company is aiming to grow and become an even more prominent player in the business. The recent senior staff appointments were made with that objective in mind: “We have assembled a team of passionate and progressive creative professionals with specialized expertise to propel Fragrance West into its next major growth phase,” says Christina Fiduccia, president of Fragrance West, in a company press release.

“These staff moves enable us to scale our operations, R&D and sales functions accordingly, while continually offering the type of technical expertise, creativity and service support for which we’re known.”

New

Fragrance West made two new hires. Sheri Zarchy came on board to manage analytical sciences for the company. And, Gary O’Dell was brought in to oversee operations and facility management.

Sherri Zarchy brings her 25 years of product analysis, reverse engineering, recreation, and quality control experience to the company. “Her extensive background in gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) data interpretation and translating fragrance analyses into formulas will expand Fragrance West’s laboratory capabilities and advance its response to customers’ formulation needs,” explains the release.

Gary O’Dell has over three decades of facility and maintenance management experience (in both cosmetic contract manufacturing and food tech). The company reports that “As director of operations and facility management, he will ensure that Fragrance West’s state-of-the-art facilities, laboratories and operations are ‘audit-ready,’ complying with Food and Drug Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as fire, life and safety regulatory requirements.”

Improved

The company opted to promote from within to boost its business as well. Diane Horne previously served as business develop manager for HORN Care Elements, a position which included responsibilities with Fragrance West. In her new sales leader role, she will “manage distribution sales across all market applications and direct business development activities for Fragrance West.”

John Sanchez was an operations manager with the company and will now serve as senior manager of operations and facility management.
