Regenlab USA recently launched a new skincare line that includes the trademarked Regenskin ingredient. It includes four different molecular weight hyaluronic acids that help create anti-aging effects on skin, says the company.

Hyaluronic acid helps to stimulate fibroblast migration, proliferation and collagen production as well as regulate the diffusion of micronutrients, among other functions. Regenskin includes four different molecular weight hyaluronic acids to help penetrate different depths of skin. Larger molecular sizes reportedly help to protect the outermost skin layer while smaller molecular sizes are absorbed deeper into the skin. The four hyaluronic acids used in Regenskin are large molecular weight, medium molecular weight, sodium acetylated and small molecular weight.

In addition to the hyaluronic acids in Regenskin, other anti-wrinkle compound peptides, saccharomyces lysate extract and caffeine also help to prevent and correct signs of aging, restore vitality and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

CosmeticsDesign-USA (CDU) spoke with Dr. Giuseppe Calloni, Chief Executive Officer, to learn more about the Regenskin ingredient.

CDU: How was the novel ingredient conceptualized and developed for use in cosmetics and personal beauty care product formulations?

Dr. Calloni: Considering that to design an efficient anti-aging skin care product we need to reach the dermis, we have introduced in our formulations a novel complex; this is based on four different molecular weights Hyaluronic Acids that guarantee the absorption from the surface, deep into the dermis. Our studies have demonstrated that this molecule is absorbed easily and quickly, promoting repairing, protection and anti-oxidant properties to the formulations

CDU: Can you share some background information about Regenlab USA?

Dr. Calloni: RegenLab USA is a subsidiary of RegenLab SA, a Swiss company that since 2003 has been committed to the development of a unique expertise for the design and manufacturing of high-quality medical devices, intended for cells therapies. Based on the same scientific approach in the medical device market, RegenLab USA has developed a full line of pre-post treatment care products for reaching specialistic markets and recently consumers directly.

CDU: What is the potential impact of this product ingredient innovation on manufacturers and suppliers to the cosmetics and personal beauty care product industries?

Dr. Calloni: This complex, which has been patented by a leader in the HA market, will improve the efficiency of the anti-aging skin care products, due to the efficiency, skin tolerability and compatibility with other components in the formulations

CDU: Are there any future plans for further innovation in this space?

Dr. Calloni: In the skin care industry, new molecules, new biopolymers and new forms of ingredients (like fibers) are under development — and RegenLab USA is an important actor in that space.
