France-based Gattefosse has launched a new ingredient for under eye
bags and shadows at In-Cosmetics in Amsterdam, hoping for success
in the burgeoning male anti-ageing market.

Cytobiol Lumin-Eye reduces both dark circles and puffy skin under the eyes, with visible results in 28 days, operational marketing manager Laurent Schubnel told CosmeticsDesign.com. Extract of ash bark and vitamin D3 The ingredient joins the Cytobiol family which are all formed by mixing a plant extract with a vitamin and an oligo element. Lumin-Eye incorporates an extract of ash bark, an organic silicone and vitamin D3, which according to the company improves microcirculation in the eye area. The ingredient is targeted towards the anti-ageing market and formulations designed for the eye area are becoming increasingly popular with consumers. Approximately 8 per cent of the French anti-ageing market is made up of products designed specifically for the eye area and the market grew by 6 per cent in 2007 according to Schubnel. Furthermore he noted the increasing popularity of such products explaining that for 30 per cent of French women an eye product makes up part of their daily skin care regime. In this respect the product no longer remains the property of the luxury market with increasing numbers of mass market ranges sporting an under eye product. Eye products popular with male consumers In particular Schubnel noted the popularity of eye products in the male skin care market, explaining that such products are often released early on in the development of a range. The France-based company is also releasing Gatuline In-Tense, a rapid reaction anti-wrinkle ingredient that claims to have visible results with one application. The ingredient, based on an extract from the flower buds of the South African Paracress plant, is awaiting BDIH natural certification, said Schubnel.
