Risdon-AMS, a US supplier of packaging components for the cosmetics industry, is to break ground on a new plant in Reynosa, Mexico.
The company said today that the new facility will be used for assembly operations of metal closures, lipsticks and mascara caps.
Risdon-AMS has designated a currently unoccupied site in Reynosa that will provide the 30,000-square feet of space required for assembly operations. The company intends to sign a lease for the property by 1 October, 2002, and to become fully operational by the end of the first quarter in 2003.
According to Vice President & Senior Operations Officer Steve Levine, about 80 employees are expected to be hired for the new facility which will be headed by a plant manager appointed from within the Risdon-AMS organisation.
"We are very excited about this new facility in Mexico," said Stephen Pearlman, Risdon-AMS president. "It further expands our global operations and makes us more cost-competitive as a worldwide supplier to the cosmetics industry. This will be a real benefit for our customers," he added.
Risdon-AMS currently operates eight manufacturing facilities in North America and Europe which produce colour and closure products including lipsticks and lip gloss, eye care products, and cosmetic and fragrance closures and caps in a wide variety of finishes.
