Swiss-based global fragrance and flavours giant Givaudan says that
a down-turn in its performance for the first six months of the year
was buouyed by a stronger showing from it international fragrance
operations.
Givaudan has reported that sales fell in 2004, with a poor
performance from its fragrance division hampered by its fragrance
ingredients business combined with unfavourable currency exchange
rates, reports Simon Pitman.
Swiss flavours and fragrance company Givaudan saw operating profit
for the first half of 2003 knocked by lower gross margins and a
rise in pension charges.
Swiss pharmaceuticals group Roche warned that while work at its
vitamin C plants is proceeding as planned, short to mid-term supply
of the nutrient is expected to remain tight.
