PeclersParis expo highlights the allure and science of color
In an industry where color plays such a massive part in the presentation of products and what is trending for make up products, a new expo at the Smithsonian Design Museum, in NYC, delves deeper into the science beshind color choices.

The museum’s curators have chosen PeclersParis, a premier global creative and innovation consultancy focused on color as its partner for the expo, titled The Allure and Science of Color, which runs at the space from May 11 2018 to January 13, 2019.

PeclersParis has been specializing in a broad range of color-related topics for 48 years, and works closely alongside a broad range of consumers brands to fulfill the ever-changing aesthetic preferences of today’s discerning consumer.

Eye on the future

The consultancy is often seen as a reference for color trends predictions, thanks to regularly published social-cultural and creative forecasting that can influence anyone from color cosmetic developers to packaging designers.

Indeed, the release of the bi-annual PeclersParis Color Book is one of the most anticipated events for professionals in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle areas, looking for inspiration and a look in on what to expect in the coming seasons.

Often these forecasts stretch to two years in advance, and what the curators of The Allure and Science of Color event aim to achieve is to bring the Color Book alive.

Exploring the concept of color

The event will explore what the organizers term, “the elusive, complex phenomenon of color perception and how it has captivated artists, designers, scientists and philosophers”.

The floor space will feature over 190 objects from the museum’s permanent collection and Smithsonian Libraries, spanning from antiquity to present.

PeclersParis will have a dedicated area within the exhibition that aims to give visitors a behind-the-scenes experience of its color-forecasting process, including a video that details the key steps that are taken to arrive at the 45 colors that are featured in the forecast for each season.

Visitorparticipation

The exhibition also aims to be interactive by giving them the opportunity to curate their own color harmonies using PeclersParis’ own digital color selection platform.

This process allows visitors to experience the color selection and analysis process for the forecasts at first hand, giving and important immersion into the design process and how it all works.

In conjunction with the event, the company has also devised an interactive social media campaign, which can be followed by using these handles:
