Greater Cannabis Company partners with Brazilian cosmetics player
The Greater Cannabis Company has partnered with leading Brazilian cosmetics and personal care player Allume Cosmeticos, its first step in to the world beauty.

The Greater Cannabis Company is a biopharmaceutical business that has focused on cannabinoid delivery systems, and executives at the company now see the next logical step for the development of the business to be the beauty arena.

The two businesses have confirmed a letter of agreement through which the Greater Cannabis Company will provide customized formulations and incorporate its delivery system for pharmaceutical-grade cannabiodiol into Allume’s new line of CBD-based cosmetics products.

Tapping into the trend for CBD skin care

CBD is a hot trend in the cosmetics and personal care industry right now, thanks to a growing body of research that underlines its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties that can be incorporated into a wide range of skin care products.

In line with this, the development team at Greater Cannabis Company claims that its patented technology platform has been demonstrated in lab studies to be an efficient and effective delivery system for cannabis actives for cosmetics and personal care products.

In line with this, the company has also developed a comprehensive expertise and innovation in concept development that has already helped to bring a number of projects in other areas to full-scale commercialization.

Targeting the huge Brazilian beauty market

The partnership is the latest in a line of commercial developments that the company has announced in the last year, and the development team is expecting to maintain this momentum as it moves forward this year.

“The Brazilian cosmetics market, the fifth largest in the world, has long been a global leader in beauty and personal care products, with Allume on the forefront of product concept and innovation for over 40 years,” said Aitan Zacharin, Chief Executive Officer of Greater Cannabis Company.

“We are honored to have been selected by Allume Cosmeticos to develop its CBD products, which we believe is a testament of the strength and efficacy of our proprietary CBD formulation technology and the industry’s increasing demand for it.”

LATAM market for CBD beauty expands

The move by Greater Cannabis Company and Allume Cosmeticos is one of a growing list of players that are expanding into the market for CBD products in the LATAM region.

Back in January, Cosmetics Design brought news of Aurora Cannabis breaking into the Mexico market through the acquisition of Farmacias Magristrales, a move that gives the company a footing in the Mexican personal care space.

Another growing player in the region’s CBD skin care market is Khiron, which launched its CBD skin care line, called Cuida in Colombia back in October last year. Since then, the company has broadened its footprint into other LATAM markets, as well as North America.
