The KOSÉ Corporation brand has teamed up with Perfect Corp to bring YouCam's AI Skin Diagnostic tools to consumers in the States.

Perfect Corp is best known in the cosmetics and personal care industry for its virtual try-on technology, leveraging AI and AR to let consumers see makeup and hair color looks in real time, on their own digital reflection.

At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, the beauty tech company launched Skin Diagnostic tools. The new Perfect Corp functionality assesses hydration, identifies spots, wrinkles, dark circles, and such and then provides personalized product recommendations based on that data.

Using beauty tech for consumer acquisition and product discovery

"As a leader in Japanese beauty, we pride ourselves on offering our customers a meaningful, innovative and highly personalized approach to beauty,” says Sharon del Valle, GM KOSÉ America, in this week’s media release about the newly announced tech partnership.

“We are thrilled to be working with Perfect Corp. to integrate this platform into the consumer's discovery of Japanese skincare on Decorte.com and to ensure we deliver a high-touch experience that addresses key skincare concerns," she says.

Hydration is one of the most agreed upon measurements used to gage the look and feel of skin; and it’s a key benefit of many products.

del Valle explains the appeal of the new online skin assessment tool in terms of hydration, saying, “For the first time, we are able to easily demonstrate to consumers their hydration needs and then quickly link to solutions that best fit their needs such as our bestselling Moisture Liposome Serum with its groundbreaking proprietary technology for hydration.”

“The combination of Perfect Corp.'s platform with our products allows us to connect with the consumer in a seamless way to help them achieve the radiant, smooth, glowing skin that the Japanese are known for,” she says.

Keeping Japanese beauty close at hand in challenging times

The KOSÉ Corporation brought its Decorté brand of skin care, color cosmetics, and fragrance to the US market in 2016 through an exclusive partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue. (Read more on that here on us.fashionnetwork.com in an item by Obi Anyanwu.)

Now the Tokyo, Japan – based company is making sure that the renowned Decorté skin care products are discoverable, by meeting consumers where they are—online mostly—in the current moment.

And the team at Perfect Corp (which is also headquarted in the APAC region: New Taipei City in Taiwan) is happy to help: "We are thrilled to partner with Decorté to integrate our most advanced AI-powered skin diagnostic technology for web with tracking for hydration and other key skin health concerns," says Alice Chang, Founder and CEO of Perfect Corp, in this week’s media release.

"It's an honor,” she says, “to partner with such a forward-thinking and innovative skincare brand like Decorté and help guide beauty consumers on their skin health journey with the help of YouCam's beauty tech.”
