LBB Specialties acquires another beauty ingredient distribution business
LBB Specialties (owned by LeBaronBrown Industries) is a specialty chemicals and ingredients distribution business, and according to the company site, “sources products from hundreds of suppliers and serves thousands of customers in the aroma, biotech, flavor & fragrance, food, industrial, imaging, metal & water treatment, nutritional, personal care, and pharmaceutical markets.”
Besides the newly acquired Custom Chemical Services (CCS), LBB Specialties has three subsidiary businesses (that is businesses it has a majority interest in but doesn’t wholly own): aic, Charkit Chemical Company, and Dien, all of which serve the cosmetics and personal care industries.
LBB Specialties adds another regional beauty ingredient distributor to the venture
Late last week LBB Specialties announced the deal that adds CSS to the company’s roster of subsidiary beauty ingredient distributors.
“We are thrilled by the addition of CCS to the LBB Specialties platform,” says Darren J. Birkelbach, CEO of LBB Specialties, in the company’s press release.
Based in Medley, Florida, “CCS built its reputation as a strong regional distributor by partnering with high-quality principals and providing excellent service to its loyal customers,” adds Birkelbach, who goes on to describe LBB’s overarching strategy for future growth saying, “We look forward to providing resources and support to build on CCS’s success and fuel on-going growth as we continue to build LBB Specialties as a leader in the North American specialty chemical and ingredients distribution market.”
For Chad Hicks, President of CCS, and his team, the deal with LBB is also an opportunity for growth. As he sees it, “The investment brings additional resources and commercial relationships to support the growth of CCS’s principals and customers, building upon the success of our dedicated CCS team.”

CCS distributes chemicals for the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, OTC, food and beverage, agriculture, and personal care.
The business, founded by Hicks and Bob Lewis (who leads business development for CCS) in 2004, has facilities beyond its Florida headquarters, in Dallas, Texas; Savannah, Georgia; and Kearney, New Jersey.
CCS serves the personal care industry with a collection of specialty preservatives as well as over 100 other materials spanning actives, emollients, emulsifiers, natural and essential oils, UV filters, thickeners, chelating agents, silicones, surfactants, and vitamins.
