For more than 60 years, the non-profit has been funding programs on breast health awareness and cancer prevention as well as initiatives to end gender-based violence. This month, the Foundation adds 5 women to its board of directors.

“It’s a new chapter for the Avon Foundation for Women with the appointment of this incredible group of leaders to drive forward on our ambition to help more women around the globe,” says Natalie Deacon, Avon Foundation President, in her remarks to the press.

“As we look to increase our impact on women’s lives, and work in tandem with Avon’s brand activism strategy,” she says, “this newly inducted Board of Directors has the knowledge and purpose at heart to provide great contributions.”

Avon Foundation for Women adds 5 new members to its board of directors

This month, the Foundation announced the addition of 4 Vice Presidents and 1 Treasurer to the board: Susana Casabe, Christine Jaworsky, Louise Scott, Karina Takovenko, and Charyl Zweigbaum, respectively.

“The Avon Foundation For Women Board is welcoming five new directors to help deliver on its vision to build a better world for women, through women,” states the new board member announcement on avonworlwide.com.

All of the new directors work at Avon. Casabe, for instance, has been with the beauty company for nearly 25 in marketing, category management, and communications. Plus she serves as a Vice President of Fundacion Avon Argentina.

Jaworsky has been a Foundation board member since 2008 (just one year after she joined Avon) and has since then, “led the Avon Foundation’s worldwide initiatives to help end violence against women and girls, to eradicate breast cancer and to advance women’s economic opportunity,” according to this month’s announcement.

Scott has been with Avon for 7 years and is currently head of the global company’s R&D team. Takovenko’s experience spans commercial marketing, strategy development, finance, and sales. And Zweigbaum’s 20-year career at Avon includes roles in corporate accounting, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, and more.

The board continues to be led by Amy Greene as Chairwoman, Natalie Deacon as President, Ginny Edwards as Secretary, and Kay Nemoto as Vice President.

The Avon Foundation for Women has been active during the Coronavirus pandemic

“Together with the existing members, the new directors are already effectively setting the bar high with the Foundation’s newly announced $1Million USD commitment to help front-line services for victims of gender-based violence during the COVID-19 pandemic,” notes the announcement from Avon.

As an item on the Foundation’s pages points out, “Avoiding public spaces and working remotely can help to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However it can put victims and survivors of domestic violence in potentially dangerous situations, trapped in homes with abusers, isolated from the people and the resources that could help them.”

At the end of March, as part of Avon’s #IsolatedNotAlone campaign, the Foundation pledged $1m to help support the NGOs that provide services to women and children at risk. The company has also mobilized it vast network of representatives to raise awareness. And while as a 501-(c) (3), the Foundation cannot financially support women at risk directly, it does remind people reaching out that here in the US and Puerto Rico the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE provides local support and resources.
