Tupperware owns six brands. Five of those are beauty and personal care brands. And late last week, the direct-sales company added 2 beauty and wellness executives to its leadership team.

Besides the well-known kitchen and household goods Tupperware brand, the company Tupperware owns Nuvo Cosmetics, Avroy Shlain, Fuller Cosmetics, NaturCare, and Nutrimetics.

This month, the company announced the addition of both Miguel Fernandez and Rich Goudis to the Tupperware executive leadership team. Effective this past Thursday (March 12, 2020), Fernandez is the company’s President and CEO and Goudis is the new Executive Vice Chairman of Tupperware.

In a recent statement to the press, Susan Cameron, Non-Executive Chairman of the Board, says, “The Board is pleased to add the combined talent and experience of Miguel and Rich to Tupperware at such a pivotal time.”

And, she comments on the forward-looking potential of direct sales as well as on the new executives’ collaborative track record saying, “We are confident that these proven leaders bring skills essential to Tupperware's business – a thorough understanding of the direct selling model, a belief in its relevance and growth potential, and proven track records of executing operational transformations and generating value. They have a ten-year history of working collaboratively together, and that gives us great confidence that they can rapidly create a more efficient and profitable company, while leveraging the power of our brand and our global presence to ensure Tupperware is competitive, relevant and profitable well into the future.”

Two new leaders from the beauty and wellness industry

Fernandez joins Tupperware directly from Avon, where he has served as the company’s Global Vice President since the summer of 2017. And prior to that, Fernandez worked with Herbalife, first in finance in operations and later as the Executive Vice President.

Fernandez and Goudis worked together at Herbalife, where Goudis started as a finance officer, moved in to operations and spent some 7 years as Chief Operations Officer for the nutrition, wellness, and weight management company.

And the two are eager to get to work on a new portfolio of brands: “Tupperware is a pioneer of the direct selling model,” says Fernandez in the recent press release, adding, “and I am honored to lead the team that will take the beloved brand to the next level.” And that will indeed be his responsibility. As the release explains, Fernandez will be focused on business growth and core Tupperware operations.

“I am confident that with this management team,” he says, “we can modernize the Tupperware model to give our sales force the most innovative products on the market, the best technologies to access consumers and the best operations to support their businesses. These are changes that need to be made to improve sales trends and create financial flexibility in both the short-term and the long-term,” Fernandez tells the press.

Goudis’ focus will be on the company’s competitive advantage(s). “Given the consumer trend towards environmentally-friendly reusable products,” he tells the press, “I believe there is compelling opportunity to capitalize on that through continued product innovation, enhanced technology and tools to make our sales force more effective, and operational improvements across the company.”

And not surprisingly, Goudis is glad to be working with his former Herbalife colleague again: “I am eager to quickly get to work with Miguel and the senior leadership team to pursue these objectives,” he says.
