The deal will accelerate speed-to-market solutions for Aptar’s color cosmetics clients as well expanding the company’s indie beauty brand services.

With headquarters in Illinois, Aptar is a global packaging and dispenser company serving the pharmaceutical industry, the food and beverage industries, home care, and beauty. The publicly traded company (ATR:US) was founded in 1992, operates today in nearly 20 countries around the world, and employs over 14,000 people. And, just this month Aptar was ranked number 48 on Baron’s 2020 list of The Most Sustainable Companies in America.

Aptar Group’s growth strategy

Growth by acquisition and investment is nothing new to the company. For instance, in 2005 Aptar bought the MBF group; in 2016 Aptar bought Mega Airless; and more recently, in 2018 the company acquired the Reboul packaging business and late last year Aptar invested to acquire 48% stake in 3 China-based color cosmetics packaging companies, as Cosmetics Design reported.

Now the company is furthering its position in the color cosmetics and turn-key beauty space with the acquisition of FusionPKG. “We are very pleased to welcome the FusionPKG team to the Aptar family,” Stephan Tanda, CEO and President of Aptar, tells the press.

“This is a key step,” he says, “in our strategy to address market demands for fast beauty solutions with differentiated design and decorative offerings. We are strengthening our formidable portfolio by broadening our agile design and full-service beauty packaging capabilities.”

Aptar’s plan to serve more indie beauty brands

The FusionPKG deal is an opportunity for the company to work with startups, and agile corporate brands. “FusionPKG’s expertise in turnkey solutions is especially valuable to disruptive indie brands, as well as large established customers requiring expeditious launches,” explains Tanda in the press release.

“We believe the color cosmetics and skin care markets offer high growth potential,” says Tanda, “and FusionPKG has been growing at double-digit rates over the past few years.”

“Our plan,” he says, “is to leverage FusionPKG’s market facing strengths in combination with our broad product and technology platforms. FusionPKG is an excellent complement to our current North American business, and there is great potential to scale this model in Europe and other regions.”

For FusionPFG, the deal is about growth as well, “This is the next step in our entrepreneurial growth journey and Aptar is the perfect fit for us,” says company Co-Founder Derek Harvey “We see tremendous commercial synergies and are very excited about combining our core design and concept-to-launch expertise with Aptar’s global network and broad product portfolio.”
