Snacks and drinks and dietary trends regularly influence consumer expectations and new personal care and cosmetics product launches. At Cosmoprof North America last month in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cosmetics Design noticed this selection of beverage-inspired beauty products.

Trends move across industries all the time and there’s a quite a lot of back and forth between beverages and beauty lately: green juice – style body care from brands like Fytt Beauty, apple cider vinegar as a beauty supplement from Tonik, teas for hair and blended in to skin care from brands such as Forever Wild Organics and Teami, respectively.

Here is a small selection of the beverage-inspired beauty products that Cosmetics Design saw at Cosmoprof North America 2019.

Nut milk

Petal Fresh Superfoods, a brand owned by Bio Creative Labs and led by that company’s founder and CEO Jason Freeman, was showing a collection of bath products called shower milks that take inspiration from the nut-milk movement.

The Petal Fresh Superfoods’ bath line comprises So Smooth Shower Milk (made with coconut), Get Buzzed Shower Milk (made with cashew milk), and Come Clean Shower Milk (made with almond milk).

Espresso

Coffee is now a well-established specialty beverage in the US market and it continues to inspire new products in beauty as well. At Cosmoprof North America, beauty entrepreneurs Lucy Splical and Jesse Jimenez launched their latest brand, Jesse Jimz. The men’s skin care line includes an eye cream called Triple Shot, formulated with caffeine and inspired by the energizing lift people can get from drinking a triple shot of espresso.

Bottled water

Water has long been a commodity in beauty and what water (if any) brands use in their product formulations is increasingly important to cosmetics and personal care consumers. Facial mists from brands big and small.

At Cosmoprof, two brands stood out for their bottled water products. Bondi Chic is a brand owned by Four Seasons Technology, an Australia-based biotech company. Bondi Chic uses Blue Mountain Spring Water sourced from the continent in all its product formulations. And the brand sells an Australian Blue Mountains Natural Spring Water Hydrating Mist as well as a mist made with Kakadu Plum.

The first version is not only water; the mist is also formulated with Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, 1,3-Butylene Glycol, Sodium PCA, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lactobacillus/ Papaya Fruit Ferment Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Methyl- propanediol, and Laurylpyridinium Chloride, according to the online product page.

AlkaGlam was also at Cosmoprof North America this year, showing its mineral facial mist. What’s interesting here is that AlkaGlam doesn’t sell the water but rather the minerals themselves, built into a bottled filtration system. Consumers add their own bottled water to infuse it with minerals encased in AlkaGlam’s patented O-Dobi beads.
