The European personal care corporation has just opened a newly consolidated North American headquarters and announced plans to add on more space for R&D in the coming months.

Henkel’s new US headquarters in downtown Stamford, Connecticut, is the result of the company combining several previously existing facilities in the state. What the company is calling its North American Consumer Goods headquarters brings together Henkel’s Beauty Care and Laundry & Home Care businesses as well as several administrative functions.

The space, opened in late August, and is a sign of the company’s growing business in the States. “With the opening of our collaborative new space, it’s never been a more exciting time to be at Henkel,” Jens-Martin Schwaerzler, president of Henkel consumer goods and general manager of the laundry and home care business in North America, says in a media release about the opening.

“With our new North American Consumer Goods headquarters in Stamford, we’re poised for additional growth that will drive continued success in Connecticut and across North America,” adds Schwaerzler.

Spaces and places

Over 400 employees have been relocated to the new facility. And, that number could soon rise: “Thanks to ongoing recruitment and strong growth, the company expects more than 500 employees to work at this location over the course of 2018,” notes the Henkel media release.

Among the brands based at the new HQ are Dial soaps, Right Guard antiperspirants, Schwarzkopf hair care, and göt2b hair styling products. Beyond the brands, the site also accommodates several administrative functions such as human resources, finance, legal, IT, purchasing and corporate communications.

The new facility occupies some three floors (and 155,000 square feet) of the building at number 200 Elm Street in Stamford.

Bigger beauty business

Before the year is out Henkel plans to expand the Stamford site to include dedicated R&D space for the company’s beauty care brands.

“Later in the year,” explains the release, “a new research and development facility and Customer Experience Center will open at this Stamford location to support Henkel’s Beauty Care business and offer opportunities for the public to learn about and try new products and offer feedback.”
