ADF & PCD New York opens up its innovation awards for submissions

ADF & PCD New York has opened up its annual innovations awards for submissions, with the aim of highlighting the very best in dispensing and packaging design and technology.

The trade show is due to open its doors for two days at the Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan from September 6 – 7, and the winners of the awards will be announced on the first day.

The event has a focus on dispensing, aerosol and closure technology, but also incorporates many other aspects of packaging design for the cosmetics, fragrance and personal care categories.

Awards prove to be spotlight for innovation

The ADF & PCD originated a European event, in Paris, France, but its success led to the roll out of the NYC event to represent the huge North American market, while the innovation awards have proved to be a significant platform for new technology highlights in the region.

“We are excited to be able to spotlight breakthrough technologies and cutting-edge design through the Innovation Awards,” said Christelle Anya, show director, ADF & PCD.

“We encourage brands to take advantage of this opportunity to be recognized by their peers.”

What the jury is looking for

The judging panel is focused on branded products that highlight technological advancements, creative innovations in aerosol, dispensing, personal care and cosmetic packaging.

Indeed, one of the strengths of the awards is the judging panel, which comprises packaging experts from leading brands, universities, organizations as well as the media, who will all oversee the selection process at a private meeting held at the Pratt Institute’s Manhattan campus.

Detlev Melcher, Aerosol Europe, Ian Nicholson, Colgate-Palmolive; Bernard Quennessen, Coty US; Marianne Klimchuk, Fashion Institute of Technology; Valery Vanstaan, PHD, ITW Construction Projects; and Cindy Hundley, Spray Technology, are among the jury members.

According to the organizer, the judging will be conducted according to these specific criteria: opening of a new market; unique design (shape and decoration); ergonomy, gesture, new service; innovation: technical, transformation, process; environment / sustainability / eco-conception; and/or formulation / spray.
