The Açaí berries are harvested by local communities before heading to Beraca’s plants to create cosmetic-grade extracts and ingredients. The harvest follows sustainable principles that respect biodiversity, the company explained.
According to Beraca, 100 tons of Açaí extract requires 500 tons of fruit. This provides job opportunities to 3,300 local inhabitants and helps protect 100,000 square metres of forest, it added.
