Burt Box manufactures rigid boxes, promotional packages and slip cases made from environmentally-friendly, recyclable paperboard.
The alliance will see all of Plaza Packaging’s business moved to Burt Box’s facilities, which comprise a manufacturing plant in Oneonta, New York, and a Manhattan sales office.
Burt Box increasing manufacturing and expanding sales force
According to Burt Box, Plaza will cease manufacturing at its Bronx facility on March 15, 2010. Burt Box marketing executive Laura Hurd told CosmeticsDesign.com that the company intends to handle the additional manufacturing that this will bring at its existing facilities.
Burt Box has established a large customer base in the confectionary and publishing industries, according to Hurd, and the company is expecting to increase its foothold in the cosmetics market through the addition of two of Plaza’s sales representatives to the Burt Box team.
“With the help of our new sales people, we plan to intensify our presence in the cosmetics market, building on Burt’s longstanding reputation for quality and service,” said Hurd.
She added that Plaza president Michael Albert will also be involved in the sales side of the expanded business.
Established presence in cosmetics market
The company expects that the partnership will continue Burt’s long tradition of service in the cosmetics industry, which has seen the company produce packaging for Coty, Estée Lauder and Burts Bees.
“We at Burt look forward to using our resources and top-flight personnel to provide unique and beautiful packaging to a greater segment of the marketplace,” said Hurd.
