Bell Ventures uses standardized markers to sell antioxidant ingredient
Made from natural sources of proanthocyanidins (PACS) such as cocoa and green tea, GlobalPAX is a proprietary extract designed for both topical anti-aging products and beauty foods.
David Bell, president of Bell Ventures, said the premium anti-aging market is hungry for natural ingredients that offer high performance value.
Proving performance value
To demonstrate the potential of GlobalPAX, Bell Ventures provides specific data on the ingredient.
The ingredient boasts standardized Total (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) ORAC of over 25,000 per gram.
Total ORAC itself is a new measure that analyses antioxidant protection against five free radicals including hydroxyl, peroxynitrate, singlet oxygen and superoxide anion.
Bell said that by quantifying antioxidant protection against five free radicals that are all implicated in skin damage, Total ORAC is an improvement on its predecessor, which only looked at one.
Additional claims
GlobalPAX is also standardized to collagenase and elastase inhibition to provide further evidence of the efficacy of the ingredient.
“We outperform a wide range of popular antioxidant ingredients, such as vitamin C, green tea extract and green coffee cherry extract,” said Bell.
In a naturals market that is becoming increasingly sophisticated, Bell Ventures is eager to provide convincing evidence of the functional benefits of its ingredients.
Bell said the company had sought to demonstrate the performance capacity of the ingredient in a way that would be commercially feasible. He said: “GlobalPAX lives up to its slogan; prove what goes in before it goes on.”
