Dr Straetmans is expanding into Eastern Europe to capitalise on the growing demand for natural cosmetic ingredients in the region.

To build its presence there, the company has signed a distribution agreement with Biesterfeld Spezialchimie that will bring its portfolio of functional cosmetic ingredients to 14 new countries.

Eastern promise

The deal was struck after both firms saw demand for natural ingredients taking off in Eastern Europe.

Germany-based Dr Straetmans, which has a strong portfolio of multifunctional antimicrobials for alternative preservation, said alternative preservative systems are particularly sort after.

The company also said many manufacturers in the region are looking to produce certified natural cosmetics and export them to countries in Western Europe.

Wide distribution network

By partnering Biesterfeld Spezialchimie, Dr Straetmans will have access to the company’s strong distribution network in Eastern Europe.

Biesterfeld Spezialchimie operates in 14 countries in the region and has sales representatives at offices in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Romania.

The company already distributes a broad range of basic cosmetics so teaming up with Dr Straetmans is a natural move.
