Leading cosmetics and personal care packager Alpha Packaging has
bought up Minnesota-based Technigraph in a deal that will expand
its capabilities in the decorating of bottles and jars.

Alpha Packaging, which specializes in the blow molding of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and PET bottling, together with packaging design, is aiming to extend its capabilities to offer a more complete service. Dave Spence, president and CEO of Alpha Packaging explained that Technigraph had been an existing customer to the business, adding that the companies had similar philosophies. "As more of our business moves toward the personal care market, we saw great synergies with bringing Technigraph's decorating skill to Alpha," said Spence. Technigraph will still operate independently Alpha Packaging says that Technigraph will continue to operate as an independent business unit, with the existing management and staff continuing to serve the existing customer base as well as new clients. The aim is that the partnership will open up a new customer base for businesses searching for one-stop decorating services. According to Alpha Packaging customers can now choose between or combine screen print, pressure sensitive labels, roll stamp, pad print, frosts, textures, thermo chromatics, and doming effects, amongst others. Now able to offer a wider range of services John Eddy, co-owner of Technigraph, said: "The combined company is better positioned to compete in the marketplace by offering a wider range of services, products and innovation." The move also aims to maintain the double-digit growth that Alpha Packaging has achieved during the last decade - a rate that is well above the average growth for the plastics industry during that period. This growth has already been fueled by a string of other acquisitions over the past three years, which have been boosted by a financial partnership with Stonebridge Partners, a New York based private equity firm that has helped Alpha to provide for the necessary financing.
