Impress has increased its worldwide footprint in the aerosol
packaging segment by buying up Amcor's New Zealand and Australian
Food Can and Aerosol business.

The transaction, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the year, depending on regulatory approval, taps into a business that is already serving blue chip companies in the region. Although financial details of the transaction have not been revealed, the deal will take into account seven facilities, focusing on the manufacturing of aerosols, mainly for cosmetics, but also for air fresheners and insecticides. Currently the business supplies to companies such as Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser and Unilever, and the two companies have worked together for the past two years through a technical agreement. Impress's combined facilities currently have a turnover of €150m and employ around 600 people, while Amcor forms one of the biggest packaging groups in the world with a turnover €6.6bn. The acquisition marks the next step for Impress's aims to expand its business on a global basis as a means of extending its reach in the market for metal packaging. With 52 facilities worldwide and a workforce of over 8,000, the most recent additions to the growing business have been acquisitions in Eastern Europe, North America, and North Africa. "We believe this is an excellent platform for creating value through the deployment of Impress' skills, particularly in Operational Excellence and Innovation," said Francis Labbé, Impress CEO.
