A series of international beauty conferences centering on the
fast-growing natural and organic market segment have been
announced, tapping into a market that is hungry for all the latest
trends and information in an effort to clue into new opportunities.

Organised by market research provider Organic Monitor and conference organiser ITEC France, the first round of the programme will be the Natural Beauty Summit Europe (NBSE), which will take place in Paris 29-30 November, 2007, with further conferences are expected to be announced for both Europe and the US in the near future. NBSE willfocus on creating a forum 'to learn and discuss the key challenges the cosmetics industry faces in the areas of natural and organic products and sustainability'. The conference is aimed at key manufacturers and suppliers to the cosmetics industry, including packaging companies and ingredients manufacturers, and will also include a panel of experts from the natural cosmetics market who will make key presentations. The conferencing will be divided into four sessions - one in the morning and one in the afternoon on each day. The first conference, on the morning of November 29th, will begin with an opening address from Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher, about the importance of sustainability. Entitled 'Sustainability in the Cosmetics Industry', this session will cover topics that include ethical sourcing, traceability of ingredients, organic cosmetics, and corporate responsibility, supported by a panel of industry experts. The second session of the day will focus on technical issues and formulations, with major ingredients players such as Cognis sharing their experiences in this field. Likewise this session will also be supported by a panel consisting of prominent individuals from certification agencies including Ecocert, Soil Association and BDIH, who will be discussing 'The Possibility of Harmonisation of Natural and Organic Standards'. On November 30th, the third session will concern Marketing Ethical Cosmetics, which will touch on topics such as how to reach the ethical consumer, building successful e-retail channels and concept stores - supported by presentations from Tesco and top hair stylist Daniel Galvin. The fourth and final session will be on Regulatory & Investment Issues and will mainly centre on the implications of REACH to companies involved in the natural and organic segment. The session will also look at investment issues, including ethical banking, and will also look at a case study involving the IPO flotation of Greek company Korres Natural Products. The event organisers say that further related events will be taking place in the course of 2008 in both Europe and North America, to be confirmed at a later date.
