Strategic Research Institute New York is to host a conference aimed at understanding the growing value of brand and corporate citizenship.

Billed as the first event of its kind, the Brand Citizenry Conference will take place in New York City, 4-5 September 2003, and has been organised in co-operation with Desgrippes Gobe, also a New York-based strategic brand consulting and design firm.

Marc Gobe, author of Emotional Branding and Citizen Brand, has been announced as the opening keynote speaker, while representatives from Boston College's Center for Corporate Citizenship and Cone will also be speaking at the conference.

Program highlights include a section on multicultural consumers and how companies can participate in relevant cause-related marketing and community-based programs.

The conference is also targeting government agencies and non-profit organisations responsible for building specific programs and finding sponsors or partners to successfully implement their goals.

The president of M.A.C Cosmetics, John Demsey and Estee Lauder's group president, Philip Shearer will be representing the corporate sector. However, demonstrating the industry-wide relevance of the conference, representatives from a variety of companies such as Procter & Gamble, Wyeth, Macy's West and PBS are also expected to be in attendance.
