The day-long conference will take place at the Ritz Carlton, Marina del Ray on Thursday, November 16 and will include eight conference segments that will include a variety of presentation formats and topics.
However, the preliminary agenda , released last week, show’s that the proceedings will kick off with a keynote address by Lezlee Westine, president and CEO of the PCPC, who will be joined by California Governor Jerry Brown, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom and California State Senator Robert Hertzberg.
Retail, elections and other consumer industries…
The three other morning sessions will include a presentation on retail challenges in the market place, which will include Bill Dombrowski, president and CEO of CVS.
As the event is happening just two days after the U.S. elections, one of the morning presentations will cover a summary of the what the elections results mean, given by Dan Schnur, director of the Jesse Unruh Institute of politics of Southern California.
The third morning session will focus on what is happening in other consumer industry categories, with Mike Greene, VP Government Affairs at the Council of Nutrition and Joan Lawrence, Senior VP at Standards and Regulatory Issues for the Toy Industry Association both hoping to throw new light on such matters for cosmetic industry professionals.
California Proposition 65 update
Meanwhile, the afternoon sessions will kick off with the update on California Proposition 65, a presentation that will be given by Dr. Lauren Zeise, Acting Director, Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.
The updates are the first in nearly 30 years, and aim to shake up some aspects of the legislation that are either outdated or obsolete.
The renewed regulations are the result of a three-year investigation by the OEHHA, and aim to have consumer products clearly labelled to warn consumers about potential health and safety hazards, in turn creating a seismic shift for all cosmetic and personal care companies wanting to do business in California.
Opportunities, regulation and panel discussion
The three other afternoon presentations will include a session on business development opportunities that will include business development expert, Adrienne Lindgren, from the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
The third presentation of the afternoon will include a presentation by exectuvies from theCanadian Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association and the Mexican Cosmetic Association on how regulations and issues contrast there.
And the final session will be a panel discussion featuring five executive members of the PCPC boar, who will be updating on all aspect of the associations work in the past year, as well as looking ahead to future challenges.
