The institution says the recall was voluntary and was initiated as a precautionary measure after a product sample was tested by the FDA.
According to a company spokesperson, “The test indicated that the lot exceeded the specifications for common bacteria, though extensive testing by an independent laboratory afterward did not show that specifications were exceeded.”
Other lots of Aveeno baby calming comfort lotion are not affected by this recall and remain available.
