The Australian government has announced it has included seven ingredients into the public section of its Inventory of Chemical Substances under sections 15AB (2) of the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment) Act 1989.

The ingredients include Acetyl Carnitine HCL (AAN: Acetyllevocarnitine hydrochloride), Algae Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Unsaponifiables, Lauryl laurate, Orange roughy oil, Sanguisorba Officinalis Root Extract (TGA name: Poterium officinale) and Whey Protein.

The previous regulator responsible for chemicals in certain cosmetic products (The Therapeutic Goods Administration) has now been transferred to Australia's National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (Nicnas) under the cosmetic reforms in 2007.

As such, these chemicals are now no longer subject to new chemical annual reporting requirements under Section 21AA when used in cosmetics and within the specified conditions of use.
