Inolex wins Frost & Sullivan award for natural emulsifier

Chemicals company Inolex has been awarded the 2014 Frost & Sullivan Global Personal Care Product Innovation Leadership Award for its emulsifier, Emulsense, as the demand for ‘natural’ products continues.

The naturally-based or nature-inspired product is being used to describe a plethora of beauty and skin care products on the shelves these days and with consumers becoming better-informed, the trend is growing, meaning ingredient suppliers need to respond.

That led Inolex to develop its natural cationic agent for hair conditioning and skin care; and has now seen it recognized with the business consultant’s award.

“Driven by its concentrated customer-centric approach to improve the hair care routine of consumers who are seeking renewable ingredients in cosmetic products, Inolex was proactive to align company business goals with visionary and innovation excellence to fulfill unmet customer needs in the global personal care market,” states Nandhini Rajagopal, Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan.

Product

The product in question, Emulsense, is aimed at hair conditioning and skin care, and is derived solely from the alcohol in the Brassica plant and fermentation of an amino acid and plant materials using sustainable green chemistry principals.

Historically, petrochemical products have been used in this capacity and natural replacements have long been thought to be less effective and more expensive; however, Inolex believes that Emulsense changes that mindset as it performs well, is natural and cost competitive.

Its composition is 65% active (natural cationic) and 35% fatty alcohol, and is a primary active cationic agent, enabling both performance and all-natural claims.

“This award signifies a great deal of effort,” says David Plimpton, Chief Executive Officer, celebrating the achievement.

“I applaud the cutting-edge, customer-driven focus of our Research and Development team. Emulsense, as many of our products, proves that performance does not have to be compromised in the natural arena and we are capable of finding alternatives.”
