Swiss supplier Clariant has completed global ISO22716 and EFfci Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification for all 22 of its dedicated cosmetics ingredients sites, including core-toll manufacturers.

At a time when transparency and traceability are of the utmost importance in the industry, the company says that by achieving this it supports its commitment to offer globally-consistent products and processes to its customers.

“The Personal Care sector demands transparency and global consistency of products and processes in order to be efficient in its world-wide product development and production,” comments Ralf Zerrer, Global Head of Strategic Marketing, Industrial and Consumer Specialties at Clariant.

“The achievement of Cosmetics GMP certification supports Clariant in providing the assurance we want to give our customers for the innovative and sustainable formulation ingredients and solutions we offer.”

All sites

The ISO 22716: 2007 Cosmetics GMP and EFfci GMP Standard for Cosmetics Ingredients 2005 ensure deliverance of highest quality products and production standards for the cosmetics and personal care sectors, and fulfil EU guidelines for cosmetics’ production.

They are awarded by SQS, the Swiss Association for Quality Management Systems.

As mentioned, all of Clariant’s facilities serving the personal care sector, including core toll-manufacturers, are included within the accreditation.

The sites are located in Argentina, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Turkey, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, and the USA.

GMP

GMPs are manufacturing guidelines which are used to ensure product quality control and an effective approach to risk management.

These guidelines set out standards for product manufacturing, testing, storage, handling and distribution, to ensure that each step of manufacturing is acceptable for quality and safety of the product.

GMPs do not provide specifics on how products are to be manufactured. Instead they outline the expected outcome of the processes. Every manufacturer, large or small, may have a unique means of achieving these outcomes.
