Medical Marijuana launches skin care line on the back of hemp’s anti-aging properties
California-based Medical Marijuana has become one of the first companies to launch a hemp-based anti-aging product line based on the antioxidant properties of hemp oil.

The company has launched the line through its wholly-owned subsidiary HempMedsPX. Called Cannabis Beauty Defined, it is said to be the world’s first such product line to include cannabidiol (CBD)-rich hemp oil and target the anti-aging category.

The product is being unveiled at the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, a conference and expo for the global anti-aging industry, which is being held in Las Vegas during the course of this week.

World's first CBD-rich hemp oil anti-aging personal care line

"We are extremely pleased to introduce the world's first CBD-rich hemp oil anti-aging personal care line. Cannabis Beauty Defined products differ from other anti-aging products with our super concentrated hemp CBD and natural herbal extracts," said Medical Marijuana, Chief Operating Officer, Michelle Sides.

"These personal care products represent the next step towards the overall impact that we expect to have on the growing anti-aging industry."

The six products in the line have been developed to suit all skin types and include a specially-formulated anti-aging CBD-rich hemp oil exfoliant, cleanser, eye cream, gel masque, moisturizer and serum.

Launched on the back of cannabinoids' antioxidant properties

The company is launching into the anti-aging segment on the back of clinical research that has found cannabinoids to have extensive antioxidant properties, something that is known to fight the free radicals that lead skin cells to diminish.

The US Department of Health and Human Services awarded Patent #6,630,507 for CBD and other cannabinoids back in October of 2003.

Back in August, Medical Marijuana announced that it had signed a deal to distribute its hemp-based skin care, perfume and cosmetics application throughout Europe. The product line will be distributed and marketed in Europe through its subsidiary Canipa Holdings.

Hemp becoming popular...

Hemp extract has become a focus for many cosmetic manufacturers, who are are increasingly drawing on more innovative ingredients in a bid to shake up the saturated natural and organic market.

With consumers increasingly searching for cosmetic products that are both sourced from the natural environment and are innovative in nature, manufacturers to constantly create product ranges that cater to their demands.

Hemp oil has long been used for its moisturizing properties in creams, cosmetics and the anti-perspirant market. However, there has been a notable influx of product launches across the globe in the last few years.
