Representatives from the likes of Avon, BASF and cosmetics association ICMAD are just some of the speakers featuring at the forthcoming Global Cosmetic Compliance Summit, which is taking place in Amsterdam from 27-29 May 2014.
The event’s two-day conference programme will unite brand owners, formulators, manufacturers and distributors to hear about cosmetics regulation across the world, covering key geographic regions including Asia, South America and the US.
During a day of pre-conference workshops on 27 May, Judith Higgins of GMD Group will guide attendees through key aspects of planning a marketing strategy for the US, while Dr Annelie Struessmann of CONSUBAT will look at global regulations on ingredients.
Rounding off the day will be a third and final workshop, hosted by Cider Solutions’ director Dr Chris Gummer. Featuring group discussions and practical exercises, the workshop promises to provide attendees with new tools to incorporate best practice processes into their claims strategy.
Focus on Chinese market and Asia
The first day of the conference programme will begin on 28 May with a focus on the Chinese market. Some three presentations are lined up, exploring the opportunities and challenges of exporting to China, the country’s ingredient approval process and the announcement that the CFDA is removing compulsory animal testing requirements for cosmetics produced in China.
After a networking lunch, the afternoon session looking at Asia will begin with Meet the Experts Roundtables. In this session, delegates are able to join any of the five roundtables on Asian cosmetics regulations, which each focusing on a different topic and featuring an expert from the forum programme.
Following on from this will be a presentation from GMD Group entitled ‘Licensing, Regulations & “What’s Trending” in Japan 2014’, after which there will be a session focusing on India. A presentation on product labeling from Kallik will round off the day’s sessions.
Global trends, growing markets
The second day of the conference programme will explore ‘Global trends, growing markets’, beginning with a presentation from the Department of Trade and Industry, South Africa, on the growing South African market.
Day two will also feature another Meet the Experts Roundatables session, this time focusing on US and global cosmetics regulations, which will be followed by a session on the continued efforts of the FDA on cosmetics regulation.
Elsewhere, Avon will host a session entitled ‘Capitalising on the growing LATAM market’, looking at cosmetics and personal care in Brazil, while BASF will examine data needed for cosmetics companies to be compliant in terms of ingredients.
A panel discussion on ‘The global ramifications of European Standards’, with participating speakers from Avon, BASF and CONSUBAT, will mark the end of the conference programme.
