Verdan, a supplier of natural crystal deodorant products, has received a patent for a technology it has developed that allows crystal deodorant formulation to be sprayed on.

The patent has been awarded for the spray mechanism used for its natural-based Mineral Protect Product, which allow saturated natural liquid crystal deodorant to be spray dispensed, ultimately enhancing the product's efficacy.

The company applied for the patent back in 2007, citing the fact that the spray’s design means that the liquid crystal formulation can be dispensed without it clogging up and blocking the spray pump.

The patent has been granted for the US market, together with leading markets in western Europe, including France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Belgium.

Spray crystal deodorant gives 24-hour protection

Frances Verdan, company founder, says that the innovation allows for a formulation containing in excess of a12 percent concentration of crystal deodorant to be dispensed, offering up to 24 hours of deodorant protection.

“This new patent broadens and strengthens our crystal deodorant portfolio and firmly establishes our leadership in developing and supplying innovative and quality odor prevention solutions that are both natural and effective for consumers to use,” said Verdan.

The company claims that the spray product enhances the efficacy of crystal-based deodorant, offering longer lasting protection, while still enabling the formulation to be natural-based.

Ecocert is possible

Indeed, Verdan claims that the spray product can be marketed with Ecocert certification with the addition of a 5 – 10 percent eau florale to the existing formulation.

In recent years, the company says demand for its crystal-based deodorants range has grown worldwide on the back of the huge leap in the market for natural and organic personal care products.

This has led to a significant expansion of the company’s portfolio and earlier this month the Switzerland-based company expanded it further with the launch of a natural potassium alum powder.

Body spray, creams, powder and roll-ons

The powder is the active ingredient in crystal deodorants, and can be used as an odor preventative in body sprays, creams, powder and liquid roll-on products, according to the company.

Verdan’s portfolio now boasts several products made from potassium alum stone, including crystal deodorant body spray, stone, stick and roll-on.

According to the company, beyond its use in crystal deodorants, the astringent properties of potassium alum stone means it acts as a skin firming and toning agent, and is also effective in relieving razor burn.
