Last week in New York City, Cosmetic Executive Women and the American Association for University Women honored six professionals across the personal care, cosmetics and fragrance industries.

The Beauty’s Top Talent Award recipients were selected for their outstanding career accomplishments in the beauty business to date as well as for their potential to thrive as leaders going forward.

Mission driven
The awards, now in their second year, align closely to the missions of both organizations. The CEW “recognizes professional achievement and innovation in the industry to inspire the next generation of leaders,” according to a media release about the initiative. The AAUW empowers women with educational funding, research ventures, policy work and more.

“CEW is dedicated to recognizing achievement at all levels. By honouring mid-career professionals, we hope to encourage these women to continue to excel and to inspire the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of our industry,” said Carlotta Jacobson, president of CEW.

Who’s who
CEW Board members introduced the honorees, with remarks focused on what makes each of the women singled out for an award a strong leader and industry visionary.

Here are the 2015 Beauty’s Top Talent Award recipients:

  • Claire Fremont Langlais, senior marketing director for Calvin Klein Fragrances at Coty
  • Jenine Guerriero, director of Fine Fragrance Marketing at Givaudan
  • Althea Knight, Executive Director of R&D for Aveda of the Estée Lauder Companies
  • Helen Murphy, director for the Scent Design Group, Fine Fragrances at International Flavors & Fragrances
  • Amy Whang, vice president of Cosmetics L’Oreal Paris USA
  • Miriam Whippen, Regional Director with Clarins USA

In thanking the CEW and industry allies for the award, each recipient commented on the lessons she learned along the way and her particular approach to career success.

Financial support
“In addition to the awards, each honoree will receive an educational grant for executive leadership training from the American Association of University Women,” explained the media release.

The Beauty’s Top Talent Award recipients each collect $3,000 from the AAUW to fund relevant education, according to Cordy Galligan, vice president of marketing and business development at the organization.

Networked
The CEW event brought together industry leaders and professionals in mid-career to meet and mingle and bolster the relationships that make the beauty industry prosper. The companies of the honorees were well represented in the room. And the event sponsors, whose work reinforces the industry in meaningful ways, added their applause too: Marie Claire, 24 Seven, Arcade Marketing, Links of London, Beauty Inc and WWD, Consultancy Media, PIMS, and Kaplow.
