Lip care specialists, Blistex, have launched Lip Massage, the first non-solid lip balm packaged in a durable stick container.

Blistex designers worked with partners to conceptualize, prototype and manufacture the dispensing tube.

The resulting one-of-a-kind formula and packaging combination allowed a soft-balm to be packaged in a durable stick tube, say the company. A simple twist dispenses the balm through a hole in the applicator tip.

A spokesperson for Blistex told CosmeticsDesign: “When we developed Lip Massage, our goal was to marry the two consumer favorites - a soft balm and durable stick.”

The Lip Massage formula contains hydrating jojoba, sunflower oil and shea butter, and the pliant ridges on the unique applicator tip invigorate lips, according to the company. With an SPF 15 level, the balm combines several broad spectrum sunscreens for protection against UV rays.

Continuing the expansion of its product line, the company has also launched Natural Cooling Comfort, a 100 per cent natural, certified organic lip balm.

Claimed to be the first natural product to contain an external analgesic in a tube applicator, the company says the lip balm is infused with a naturally derived, fast-acting soothing agent that provides cooling pain relief from severely chapped lips.

Blistex President, Mike Donnantuono, said the certified organic seal that shows a product complies with USDA guidelines indicates that companies strive to produce a high quality, organic product.

“It’s central to our principles that our customers know they are getting an effective product backed by Blistex’s trusted reputation,” he added.

Lip Massage and Natural Cooling Comfort, with suggested retail prices of $2.49 and $1.99 respectively, are available at food, drug and mass retailers throughout the U.S.
