Wisconsin-based Botanic Innovations puts the Zinfandel into its newly-launched Red Grape Seed Oil - a move it claims will give cosmetic marketers more punch.

Although grape seed oil ingredients and extracts have been marketed in the beauty arena for many years now, the company believes that what differentiates it's ingredient is the fact that it is using the name of the grape to help identify it.

“Red Zinfandel Grape Seed Oil does have similar nutrient profiles to other types of grape seed oil, but specifying the grape type gives marketers good options to highlight ingredients more effectively,” said Mark Mueller, Botanic Innovations Founder & CTO.

Ingredients is rich in antioxidants and fatty acids

The company, which specializes in cosmetic and cosmeceutical ingredients as well as nutritional ingredients, says that this ingredient is rich in both vitamin E and antioxidants, making it an excellent ingredient for a cross-section of skin care and hair care products.

Equally important, the ingredient is rich in Omega fatty acids that are specifically useful for personal care. Specifically, the oil is said to contain both Omega 3 and 6, known as building blocks for cell membranes, giving it significant anti-aging properties.

Meanwhile, the ingredient’s natural moisturizer properties are enhanced thanks to both its lipid content and Omega 9 in the form of Oleic acid, which serves to make the ingredient effective for both hair and skin products.

Suitable for hair, skin and soap products

Further adding to its flexibility, the oil also contains palmitic acid, which is a saturated acid that is used to give a smooth silky texture to natural soaps.

The company also includes White Grape Seed oil and Organic Grape Seed Oil in its extensive portfolio, both of which are marketed for personal care applications.

Besides having cosmetic and cosmeceutical applications, the ingredient is also rich in phytosterols, which makes it a good ingredient for heart-friendly food products or nutritional supplements.
