Nutritional supplement company ‘Rise-N-Shine’ claims it has developed an all-natural pill that reverses and prevents grey hair without the use of colourants.

According to founder Cathy Beggan, the pill contains 100 per cent natural and safe ingredients and offers long-lasting results in bringing back the hair's natural colour while encouraging more body.

The founder reveals the secret ingredient to be an enzyme called Catalase that counteracts with the body's natural production of hydrogen peroxide.

When we don't produce enough Catalase, the hydrogen peroxide cannot be broken down. As a result, hair is bleached from the inside out, turning it grey,” she explains.

How it works

According to Beggan, as Catalase levels decrease and hydrogen peroxide levels increase, the hair slowly turns grey and then gives way to white and that this pill in this instance has been formulated to replace the lost Catalase so it can break down the peroxide which halts the greying process and allows the hair’s natural colour to come back at the root.

Of late, several scientific studies have proved that the absence of catalase in the body is related to initiate a chemical chain reaction resulting in grey hair. One particular study on the matter has appeared online in The FASEB Journal; the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.

Why choose the pill over hair dye?

According to Beggan, opting for the BFW pill is a natural alternative to using chemicals found in hair dyes.

Hair dyes contain chemicals that are usually amino compounds, lead, and ammonia. Although safer today than 20 years ago, hair dyes still contain potentially skin-irritating chemicals used to help the color penetrate the hair,” she says.

The pill has been formulated in shampoo and conditioner form, and is said to take up to 8 weeks to start seeing the results, but claim to be permanent.

Demand for supplements like this are being driven by women who are increasingly turning to hair colouring products at an earlier age in an effort to hide the first grey hairs, and men who are also adopting the use of hair colouring products, a habit that barely existed a few years ago.
