The cosmetic division at Fenchem has launched ‘Wound Healing Essence’, a new active formula from flower extracts that is said to be extremely effective on the treatment of wounds, sunburn and even acne, according to the China-based company.

The formula features a blend of active ingredients, Taraxacum Officinale (dandelion) Scutellaria Baicalensis, Lonicera Japonica (honeysuckle), Aloe Barbadensis, Sophora Angustifolia, copper tripeptide-1 and sodium hyaluronate.

Fenchem’s liquorice extract (Glycyrrhiza Uralensis) has also been included for its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties thanks mainly to the active compound glycyrrhetinic acid.

Said to be similar in properties to cortisone, it has a purifying effect on the skin, and is an ideal ingredient to help counteract allergic reactions brought about by a host of ingredients commonly used in cosmetic products.

According to the company that specializes in developing and manufacturing active ingredients, application study results on the formula have revealed that it is effective in “inhibiting the activity of 5α-reductase, reducing the secretion of sebum, stimulating the collagen synthesi and repairing the injury.”

Wound Healing Essence can be directly applied on the skin or mixed with other ingredients in cream, lotion or gel products.

Development

Fenchem has traditionally focused on nutritional supplements and functional food ingredients, but recent years have seen a number of new releases targeting the cosmetics market.

To date, the ingredient provider boasts a profile of formulation development, personal care product development and implementation from basic silicone raw materials to customer specific compounds for the industry, such as silicone fluid, amodimethicone emulsion, silicone elastomer.
