At-home skin rejuvenation treatment claims industry first status

US based company, Amway claims its’ new skin rejuvenation system is a first for the industry in terms of at-home kits as it has the ability to delve down and recharge the skin right at the cellular level, a practice previously said to be reserved to clinical settings.

Katie Blough, a spokesperson for Amway told CosmeticsDesign.com USA that “while there are other special-use products on the market (i.e. 14/28 day treatments) our 'ARTISTRY Intensive Skincare 14 Night Restore' system is the first of its kind to feature seven levels of DNA repair.”

Blough further explains that the system features a potent ‘Deep Night Action 7 Complex’ comprised of restorative enzymes which boost the skin’s natural ability to repair signs of damage, restores the skin 75 percent faster than normal, and increases skin cell turnover reducing roughness by 83 percent.

According to the company spokesperson, although results from skin rejuvenation procedures are all well and good, only professionals can administer those type of treatments in a clinical setting, which can be quite costly, and often requires multiple visits before achieving desired results.

"Compared to the benefits of professionally-administered photo-facial skin rejuvenation treatments, this system is just as powerful from a home environment and is clinically tested to improve skin clarity by 261 percent," she explains.

How it works

According to Blough, the system features a potent and highly effective enzyme; UV-Endonuclease, which she says has been shown to help repair skin cells and encourage recovery from sun damage by curtailing the gradual weakening that causes photo-aging.

The product also contains Licorice Root and Oat Extract well known with industry formulators to help to calm irritation and reduce redness.

The development of the kit, Blough says comes after extensive research into the area of skin damage with the help of onsite skin research databases.

"As of 2012, more than 16,000 F.A.C.E.S. (Facial Analysis Computer Evaluation System) images have been analyzed from units placed in the Americas, Asia and Australia. From those 16,000 images, we learned that more than 90 percent have encountered more than two of the deadly skin enemies, which result in DNA damage," she explains.

"The greater the damage to DNA inside a cell, the more likely dysfunctional cells replicate. Once damaged cells start to multiply, damage is more likely to become evident on the skin in the form of fine lines, wrinkles and dullness," she adds.

At-home beauty kit market booming…

Cosmetic companies looking to boost sales in a climate of conscious consumer spending are now, more then ever tapping into the trend for at-home beauty treatments, according to a recent consumer packaged goods report by Symphony IRI Group.

“Beauty marketers are embracing new technology and ingredients to elevate the bar on beauty care performance, bringing professional-quality care into the home without the professional price tag,” the editor of the report, Susan Viamari, told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.

Facial anti-aging products, cleansers and acne treatments are those highlighted as dominating the sector as Viamari says "consumers are less inclined to sacrifice in this area.”
