This one-day seminar is aimed to provide key fundamental basic knowledge in skin biochemistry. It is divided into three parts. In Part I, we will examine the definition of key words, skin structure and function, and major cells and components. In the second part, we will discuss the structure of genes, definition of expression, role of cytokines, activity of enzymes, and role of receptors. In Part III we will investigate the role of water in skin, its bonding to other molecules, and the importance of proper moisturization.
