It has been said by many CEOs that one of a company’s greatest assets is its people. Unfortunately today, the discretionary dollars a company spends on continuing development for this “greatest asset” is being challenged by many other corporate priorities. As a result, the time and money being dedicated to professional development has waned. This may hurt a company in the long run, but it has an even bigger and immediate impact on the individual for not being at the “top of his/her game” in this very competitive, capricious business environment. Subsequently, it then becomes a priority for the individual to take charge of his/her own professional development in keeping a skill set as sharp and as current as necessary.
For the second year the NYSCC is offering its members a chance to develop or keep their professional skills sharp by contracting with the American Management Association (AMA) for a day of “professional development.” At a fraction of the cost of typical multi-day AMA courses, the NYSCC is conducting its Professional Development Symposium at Montclair State University on Monday, July 23rd. Different this year from last year’s symposium is a greater concentration (3 hours) on fewer subjects (4) for the individual to pick two courses to attend for the day. Upon successful completion, 0.3 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) will be credited for each course.
The courses being offered are:
