This week the indie skin care company announced that Joan Malloy is now chief executive officer and working to grow the brand though R&D initiatives, retail partnerships, and more.

Malloy was hired for her extensive expertise in beauty and brand growth: “Her ability to grow brands is undeniable and we are confident she will take StriVectin to the next level across all aspects of the business – from research and development, to marketing, to retail partnerships, and to the consumer experience,” says Neda Daneshzadeh, director at StriVectin and partner at L Catterton, in a media release about the appointment.

She affirms that “Joan brings an invaluable perspective and expertise in the beauty category to StriVectin.”

Track record

In her most previous role as CEO and president of Alterna Haircare, Malloy created new categories, launched standout marketing campaigns, and during her six-year tenure, developed Alterna into a multi-channel brand.

Her experience before that comprises an array of senior marketing roles in the industry, at Frederic Fekkai, John Frieda, Lancome and Estee Lauder.

The road ahead

StriVectin has built a reputation for science-based anti-aging skin care. The company’s products retail in department stores and specialty shops in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and Asia.

“I have long admired the StriVectin brand and its dedication to bringing best in class products to market that are known for their scientific credentials and efficacy,” Malloy tells the press.

For instance, just last year the company conducted research on ageless skin, using a pediatric skin care study to gauge the effectiveness of anti-aging products.  And StiVectin’s skin care devices are well regarded by consumers. (More from Cosmetics Design on devices here.)

“It is a brand whose launch changed the beauty industry, and I have no doubt we will continue to bring game-changing innovation to the category. It is with great enthusiasm that I look forward to building on the rich brand heritage and celebrating future successes that are sure to come with the talented team at StriVectin,” she says.
