Lonza’s Consumer Care division has announced that Dr. Russell Elliott will be taking over as the director of skin care technology at the company’s personal care division.

The role will see his responsibilities extend to establishing a long term vision to provide technical leadership for all of Lonza’s skin care technologies, the company stated in an official announcement.

Dr. Elliott has extensive experience and expertise in the design and development of new product for the complete spectrum of beauty and personal care categories.

More than 25 years of experience in skin care

That experience extends to 25 years leading strategic product development efforts specifically in the area of the skin care, skin health and cosmetic and dermatology categories, which has culminated in the filing of more than 50 patents.

Previously he has held the position of V.P. of operations at BiopharmX, while his education extends to a Masters of Arts in Chemistry and a Dphil in Organic Chemistry from Oxford University.

The development of highly advanced skin care technology has proved absolutely vital as a means for many skin care brands to stay ahead in this fast-moving category.

The development and popularity of highly functional alphabet creams, sunscreens and anti-ageing products have been amongst the biggest driving forces behind demand for ingredients that meet formulators’ requirements.

Enhancing Lonza's skin care expertise

Lonza’s expertise in skin care products includes biotechnology-derived active ingredients, natural and organic preservatives and other products, proteins, emollients and delivery systems.

“The team is very excited that Russell has joined Lonza as our Director of Skin Care Technology,” states Penny Antonopoulos, Head of Global Marketing, Personal Care.

“Russell’s proven track record in innovation and technical leadership is quite impressive, and we feel fortunate that Russell will be managing our future endeavors.”
